Artist Biography – Nkosinathi Kandeni
A Beacon of Resilience and Radiance
Born in the picturesque landscapes of the Eastern Cape, Nkosinathi Kandeni is an artist whose journey is as captivating as his creations. With an innate talent for painting and drawing, Nkosinathi’s passion for art was evident from a young age. Although life led him to work after completing his schooling, his dedication to the arts never wavered. He immersed himself in art literature, drawing inspiration from renowned artists like Guillermo Fresquet and Jose M Parramon, as well as various English watercolourists. Their influence solidified his desire to embrace art as his life’s calling.
The year 2021 marked a pivotal moment in Nkosinathi’s artistic journey when he met Xolani Sivunda. Under Xolani’s mentorship, Nkosinathi honed his skills, refining his technique and vision. Today, he stands as a full-time artist, crafting masterpieces from the sanctuary of his home studio. His commitment to continuous learning led him to attend art classes through the City Of Cape Town Developing Skill Programme, further enriching his artistic repertoire.

His artworks have graced the walls of esteemed galleries like Open Heart and Youngblood, and he has been a notable participant in events such as Comic-Con Cape Town 2021.
Preferring acrylic and oil on canvas, Nkosinathi’s artworks are more than just visual delights; they are narratives of resilience.
