Kristiaan Agenbag, a young and aspiring Western Cape artist, discovered his passion for art at a young age. Initially uncertain about pursuing art as a career, he embarked on a journey of self-discovery that led him to explore various avenues of creativity.
Agenbag sought inspiration from the vast online art community, drawing influences from diverse sources and developing his unique style – a blend of simplified realism and nuanced emotion.
Agenbag’s fascination with photography translates into many of his paintings, capturing moments bathed in intriguing light and shadow. His affinity for gouache paint reflects his preference for spontaneity and rapid creation, allowing him to express his visions with swift strokes and vibrant colours. His art, characterised by its evocative nature and open-ended narratives, invites viewers to find their own meaning within each piece – a testament to his belief in the power of visual storytelling.
His first group exhibition last year was a milestone moment for Agenbag, granting him a platform to showcase his work and connect with fellow artists.
