CORPORATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Supporting Children and Inspiring Change

Corporate and Environmental Social Responsibility Projects

At Minrom, we believe that mining should not only generate economic value but also create a lasting, positive change for the communities and environments we engage with. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are rooted in a commitment to education, environmental stewardship, community education, and sustainability, ensuring that our impact extends far beyond the mines.

Through strategic partnerships, social investment, and hands-on involvement, we drive initiatives that support education, empower individuals, and promote responsible resource management. Our CSR efforts span a variety of projects, from developing young minds with hands-on geology education, to supporting local artists and cultural preservation, and enhancing community well-being through health and infrastructure projects.

Minrom's NGO: Be The Good

At Minrom, we believe that mining should not only extract value from the earth but also give back to the communities that surround it. That’s why we founded Be The Good, our dedicated NGO focused on social impact, education, and providing support to young children in remote communities and regions where we operate.

Be The Good actively creates opportunities, enhances livelihoods, and builds brighter futures for those affected by circumstances beyond their control, such as alcohol foetal syndrome. Through initiatives focused on education, mentorship, sustainable development, and community support, we strive to make a meaningful impact. From supporting local schools and offering mentorship and training programmes, to sponsoring boreholes, our commitment is to drive positive change where it truly matters.

Together, we can mine for good

Uplifting Local Artists

At Minrom, we view mining as more than merely extracting resources; it is also about transforming these materials into creative expression, such as mineral elemental pigments used in art, derived from the Earth—it’s about storytelling, culture, and community. Through our Uplifting Local Artists initiative, we support South African artists by offering a platform to showcase their talent, share their creative interpretations of mined minerals, and celebrate the role of elements in society.

This initiative forms part of The Mining Narrative, a project that brings together art and industry, empowering artists to visually capture the essence of mined minerals, their impact and connection to the land. Through the support of local artists, we aim to safeguard cultural heritage, promote artistic expression, and forge connections between science and creativity.

Box of Rocks for Schools

Geology forms the backbone of mining, and at Minrom, we believe that igniting curiosity at a young age can inspire the future of the industry, particularly by fostering an appreciation of the world around us. That’s why we created the Box of Rocks initiative—a hands-on, educational toolkit designed to introduce school learners to the fascinating world of rocks, minerals, and geology.

Each Box of Rocks contains a carefully curated selection of authentic rock and mineral specimens, accompanied by an easy-to-understand guide to help students explore the science of Earth’s formations. By making geology interactive and engaging, we aim to ignite a passion for earth sciences and inspire young minds to pursue careers in mining, exploration, and geological research.

Rare Diseases Support

At Minrom, we believe that stories have the power to connect, inspire, and drive meaningful change. Through The Poetry Project, we support individuals living with rare diseases by giving them a platform to share their experiences through poetry and creative expression.

This initiative showcases the strength and resilience of those affected by rare diseases,  telling the story of their unimaginable journey while raising awareness and fostering a deeper sense of understanding and compassion.

Every poem tells a story—every story deepens awareness and enriches understanding.
